2012 acadia run issues was created by Millman
I have a 2012 gmc acadia, did a complete engine rebuild. Replaced crank, all bearings, piston rings, timing chains, phasers, idlers, guides, cam actuators, oil pump, water pump, and the gaskets and seals. I double and triple checked the timing and am very confident it is correct. It starts but runs rough, throws codes p0016, p0018, p0019 and then runs worse and throws codes p228d and p0089. Eventually it will stall out. I double checked all the plugs/sensors /grounds to make sure I didn't miss something. Have since took off the cam covers and checked to make sure the correct number of links between the timing marks on the phasers. All good yet. Kind of stumped and not sure what to do next

Sounds like a lot of work! I've never gone quite that deep on one of those. Plenty of chains and phasers under my belt though. I don't need to tell you that they can be tricky to align.
If the cam timing marks were aligned perfectly, there is the possibility of incorrect parts. I'm thinking about the reluctor for the crank sensor on the crank shaft possibly being incorrect, reluctors on the camshaft phasers incorrect, or potentially mixed up camshafts or phasers (intake on exhaust etc.).
I have not seen it, but it sounds plausible that the camshaft timing could be causing the high pressure fuel pump to be out of phase and maybe causing the fuel pump related codes you eventually get.

Thank you for your time, I checked that the correct phasers were on the correct cams when I was checking the timing marks/chain links. Not impossible the crank reluctor not on correctly? The original reluctor was installed on the new crank by the guy I purchased the crank from. He has been working in his machine shop for 20+years, however mistakes do happen.

Do you have access to a labscope?

I do not have a labscope. I do have a person with better scanners/tools and i think a scope coming to look at it with me tomorrow. Will inform what our findings are.

If you happen to get a scope, here is a known good Cams/crank waveform. The intake signals should line up with each other, perfectly, so that if you stacked them on top of each other, It would appear as one waveform. The exhaust signals, however, do NOT line up. There is an offset of about 20° in the exhaust signals.

My friend came out today. Hooked up his scanner and after him doing his tests, he said try changing one of the cam solenoids. Long story short, we removed all 4 of the aftermarket solenoids and replaced them with the originals and all of the codes went away and it runs like a top. Thank you everyone for your input and help!

That's great news! I'm glad you got it figured out with having to tear it down it again.
