Bad grounds - Fixed was created by Ash03
Hey guys
Im working on a vehicle, 1989 Ford Bantam..
The problem im having is the bodywork is badly rusted that Im having trouble with the grounds. KEOF and main beams on, im getting a 5volt voltage drop (Test lead on Bulb - to battery -). The vehicle starts up easily as it also has a ground wire thats bolted onto the gearbox, so no problems with the starter.
I have wire brushed the ground spots and terminals until i got clean shiny metal, but still have the bad ground (5v drop)
Any advice in this situation?

Ok, so it turned out that a brand new, unused cable (the cable i used as ground strap) was faulty - internally cut.
My lecturer once told me, "never take new parts for granted". Who would have thought a brand new cable can be defective..

This vehicle was towed in 5years ago for an engine overhaul, i got that done - mechanical wise its ok, owner could not afford to pay for it so i bought it from him to kind of restore it.. and it parked for another 3years lol had no time to work on it..
Eventually this week i decided to look into it, and surprise - most of the wiring is burnt/melted including the fuse box. Basically only the engine electronics get power to work (starter, alternator, ignition coil and distributor, its carburettored) .
So i cut off the old fuse box n busy fitting a new (actually old - used) fuse box and repairing the burnt wires (i have a haynes manual for this vehicle)
Got most of the stuff sorted out, the wiper system is giving me some trouble now (the diagram looks quite hectic to understand) - wiper motor is shorting internally (by the looks of it, it seems as if the wiper motor caused the wiring to burn)
