Adding pictures is a two stage process after you click "Attachments" and drag and drop your picture in you then have to click "Insert" or "Insert All" before clicking "Submit"
The other problem that occurs is a picture particular those taken with a mobilephone usually exceed the picture size limit I use the Export function on Google Picasa but Google Picasa is no longer available.

That's OK - when you Submit the post, the text will be replaced by the actual picture.
Kinda a weird system, but you get used to it after a few uses.
