Hello, I Just swapped my 05 f150 4.6 4x4 with a 4.6 out of a standard 2009 f150. both 2v
I removed all the sensors, intake, throttle body, oil sending unit water pump valve covers ect from the 05.
The intake wasnt able to be used because it was the high rise aluminum intake but i had to use the fuel rail because of the FRPS.
So same block different heads..... so to my question.
The only code that it is throwing is the Manifold absolute pressure (map) which is inside the EGR.
it fluctuates starting at 1400 rpms down to 1k then trys to almost stall at around 700 after about 4 minutes or so.
When i am driving it feels like something is holding it back., It Struggles to hit O/D on the highway downshifting 1 or 2 gears with a little throttle...
It is struggling and getting 4 mpg... no other codes are being thrown ( it isnt causing the cel) but its stored non the less. Any Ideas on what i need to do.
Im sorry for such a wide question but reading through your forum it seemed like you guys were the one to ask. \
freeze frame isnt reading the egr values at 0
ect 12.7
maf is 7.4
frp 32
map 27.8
tp 29.4
load is 59.1
i have a slight exhaust leak on passenger side at the flange.
Thanks guys look appreciate your time and any advice is appreciated.
Could you further elaborate on why exactly you could not use the intake manifold from the original engine?
According to the used parts market Car-part.com, the cylinder head on a 2v 4.6 is the same from a 2004 Grand Marquis, a 2005 Econoline, a 2005 F150 or 2009 F150.
I drive an 05 STX 4.6 (with the big aluminum intake) if there's anything specific you would like me to check for comparison.
Just hip shooting here, but map codes and low power could be restricted exhaust.
Depending on how the engine failed, the catalytic converters could have suffered coolant or oil ingestion.
I know you already you used the original fuel rail, hopefully you also used the original injectors.
Yes sir
im going to have to remove the intake again and get back fresh i cant recall its been a few weeks,
I used the fuel rail from 05 alum intake and rigged some tie downs till i can get A rail that tie downs are not vertical.
I used the injectors from the 09
but will have them swapped at daylight and will post asap
I removed the stock exhaust and put true duals w/cats off of my other wrecked 05. they're breathing.
also i am confused about the pcv valve the 05 didnt have one at least not one that ran back to the computer. just the hose fitting.
as i am looking into this i see the pcv on the 05 is behind the TB has one hose pcv vac and two that run coolant. well
ok i have a fun morning.
(this is the W windsor motor. case that helps)
