has anyone encountered a reoccurring p0106 and p03400. The truck is a 2011 5.3 flex fuel. So far I have changed plugs, valve cover gaskets, maf sensor, map sensor, intake manifold gasket, and cleaned throttle body to know avail. I have checked all lines and can't see leaks and am getting proper signal from map sensor. Maf seems to be working as well. It only stumbles when entering v4 mode. When the cylinders deactivate the fuel trims go to +10 through positive 20. Not sure if that's the cause of the p106 or a symptom of. In v8 it is fine. Hate to ask all this but I replaced the frame a year and a half ago and now Its been trouble free till now. ff data when p0106 pops up is Fuel sys 1 - clFuel sys 2- clCalc load -32.2%Ect- 194°fStft b1- 14.8%Ltft b1-4.7%Stft b2-15.6%Ltft b2-5.5%Fuel pres-43 psiMap-16 in hgRpm-1106Vehicle speed- 47mphSpark adv- 37°iat- 48°fMaf- 1.76 lb/minTps-23.5 %Run time 1545(sec)

i would say to put a compression tester on those dod cylinders and see if you have a cylinder not deactivating the valves but deactivating injectors only. or checking vlom solenoids for an open circuit or some sort of malfunction with the vlom assembly.

I will check more when I can but just wandering if it was a specific lifter problem wouldn't it only affect fuel trims on one side. Bank one and bank two fuel trims start to go lean at same time and stay pretty close to eàch other.

you will have two cylinders on each bank that deactivate when the v4 mode is engaged so if you have two cylinders affected on the vlom circuit one on each bank this would fit the criteria of you issue as it only happens in v4 mode. so i would start with that considering your symptoms match with a vlom in use problem.

The tuner keeps it in v8 but the lifters can still fail. The only real fix is doing a full delete. But for the price of parts I would rather just replace lifters and cam even if they only last so long. Figure it's made it a 170k so far what's replacing it even if it only lasts 50k. A weekend and sum drinks isn't the worst thing.

Well I think I fixed the problem not sure, fingers crossed though. I bought a second higher quality intake manifold gasket and replaced it again. Also replaced the oil pressure screen and originally when I did the intake gasket the first time I noticed the vlom bolts where loose. I re-tightend them to the torque spec of 18 ft pounds. After wondering about the vlom gasket being compressed and wether or not that's why the bolts were loose, when I had the intake off I tightened the vlom bolts over spec to 25 foot pounds. Don't know which one of those three helped but it seems to of cleared the symptoms.
