fuel injector pulse failure was created by mr.shiney1
2010 Toyota Corolla S 1.8 So started with misfire P0301 and dead mis on cylinder 1 Sorry to say started throwing parts . Well it has 130k on original plugs so a new set was in order--no change. So then moved coil packs around-no change. Then it all cleared up for 2 days drove great. Then back P0301 so threw new injectors in it ( I know, I know) - no change. Then it went away again, drove great. So took it for a drive and tried to make it happened and I discovered when i put my foot in it and it reved out to 4500 rpm in passing gear. It went into cylinder 1 misfire. shut car off re-starte it was gone, drove great. Put foot in it again hit 4500 rpm, boom misfire#1. stopped shut it off, re-start problem gone runs great. Get it home, drive around the block, put my foot in it, 4500 rpm boom cylinder #1 failure, limp home. Keep it running, pop hood listen to the injectors with stethescope cylinder4 click, click cylinder 3 click click, cylinder 2 click, click cylinder 1 dead silent. Shut it off restart it listen to cylinder 1 injector again click, click. Runs great So.... Is this a ECU driver pulse failure for cylinder 1 that is being triggered by high rpm????

The computer is likely shutting down that injector in response to the misfire code being set to save the cat from being fed raw fuel.

So you are saying that lack of injector pulse is a reaction to something else causing the misfire? Any ideas what that might be? cylinder has good compression ,new plug and coil. You don't think this is an actual failure of the transistor driver on the ECU board?

You can try an experiment to prove it. While the engine is running good with no codes, kill spark to a different cylinder and see how long it takes after the engine is misfiring for the computer to stop firing the corresponding injector.
