Looking at possibly buying a 2013 Ford Taurus 'as is' 155k miles as a project .
The car shifts very hard and sometimes,,it has trouble shifting, but will eventually shift. The lady that has the car took the car to a Ford dealer a couple months ago,,and had the PCM reprogrammed , hoping this may be the fix for it. This did not help the situation at all,,, and dealership said it could be the TCU .
About a month later now their are many ,,error codes (along with all the dash lights lit ),when she had the local shop run a scan of the car. She actually has been driving the car as it is for four months now,and hasn't gotten any worse. She is single so tight on money.
About 4 months previous to this happening she had the water pump replaced,,and am wondering if possibly a ground didn't get reconnected or wire pinched to metal, in this process. If you never seen the water replacement on one of these car Ford recommends pulling the engine, but can be done in the frame..also. Regardless, a lot of work , ,many pieces have to be taken off to accomplish this FYI.
Nothing really definitive to go on here. Have not actually went to look at car yet.
Guess just curious if there are any resident Ford experts with any idea of a troubleshoot matrix?
TIA
