Hello, I have a 1994 Ford E250 Econoline van with a 5.8 liter.  I just completed a rebuild of the top end and replaced all the sensors on the motor while I was at it (TPS, IAC, EGR, water, air and oil pressure sensors). I also installed a new distributor and MSD ignition coil.  The computer was sent to Jet Performance to be re-programmed to accommodate the change in the cam that was made. I went with a mild torque cam as this vehicle is known for not being able to accommodate radical changes.  I also upgraded the fuel injectors to Bosch 3 injectors.  Other than the changes mention vehicle is completely stock.

Once the motor was completely reassembled, I disconnected the coil wire at the coil and cranked the motor over to get oil pressure as a precaution to make sure the motor was lubricated before firing it up.  I had a strong spark at this point as it was jumping from the coil to the distributor wire, which was a few inches away from the coil. Upon gaining oil pressure, the coil wire was reattached and I attempted to start the motor. It’s stumbled several times and appeared to be out of time, I adjusted the distributor to advance to retard the timing in an attempt to get it to fire up, after about 20 minutes of playing with it, I lost spark (it was not cranked continuously).  at first, I suspected the coil, I had the original, so I changed it out. No change in the spark condition. I also had the original distributor, put it back in, no change. I also had an ignition control module, and change that out, no change, still no spark.

I tested power and ground at the distributor connector, I have 12 V on the power supply and a good ground, the PIP wire shows 9.5 V at all times I can manually ground the PIP wire, and the fuel pump relay clicks and a spark is delivered from the coil. I bumped the motor to see if the pickup coil will change the voltage on the PIP wire, and it does not. I happen to have a third distributor and plugged it in, still no change in the PIP signal voltage.

Also, the distributor is turning so a mechanical failure is not the issue.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!
