1997 Ford F-250 HD (old style 1996 body) 351CC Not starting
Question for you. Do you offer technical support to local mechanics?
I watched your video the other day about starting a old Bronco and it reminded me of what is going on with my truck - albeit other then not suddenly starting, it looks and ran great up until it suddenly would not start yesterday.
My mechanic has worked on my truck since it was brand new, but he works out of his house and I don't think he has all the tools you have.
And why he is knowledgeable, I was wondering if you would be available to provide him some suggestion?
Of course, I would be more then happy to pay you upfront for your time.
We swapped out the ECM with a rebuilt one (I had bought it as a backup after the original one went bad a year ago and I had to replace it), as well as the smaller module on the fire wall - which was also brand new... neither had any effect.
The engine cranks great ... it just will not catch.
He's showed me that their was power going to the coil, but the side going to the 'engine?' was not pulsing. So he thinks its the distributor. He said the text light he had on the engine side of the coal should be flashing 10+ times a second, but it was a sold light, just like the other side of the coil.
I'm not sure what this means, but when I crank the engine, the Tach on the instrument cluster does not move off of zero.
After watching the video of you, I actually toyed with shipping the truck to you - but as I live outside of Gettysburg, that's a long haul ... of course, if your up for it, I could fly you here!
In any case, as a nuclear engineer - I was impressed with the way you do things and thought I would reach out to you to see if you would be willing to at least try to help from afar. Again, I'm more then happy to pay you for your time.
This is too nice a truck to not put money into it to keep running.
My mechanic put in a new distributor - still no start.
While we were talking, we both realized that the neither of us heard either of the fuel pumps (I have two tanks) - and checked, and they are not getting power as well,.
There is also no power to the ignition module... and there is no 'connection' between the stator in the distributor and the coil
