Trying to track down the root cause of large oil consumption in a 2011 Honda Pilot with the 3.5 VCM engine. There are no external leaks, but it's using about 2.5 quarts of oil every 5k. Is there any chance this could be attributed to a clogged PCV system, or is it more likely worn piston rings? There are no fault codes, but eventually it will foul out the #3 spark plug on the rear bank. The rest show no signs of oil fouling. I've heard rumors this could also be attributed to the VCM system and that installing a chip to keep this system disengaged can correct this.

It's the rings. I would put money on it.
Way too common...
