PGM-FI wire harness melted was created by SondraPfaff81
In my 1998 Honda Accord EX the battery blew up and since I've replaced the alternator, idle air control valve, ELD and the PGM-FI but the PGM-FI wasn't a OEM part, when I went to replace the PGM-FI that wasn't a OEM with a OEM PGM-FI I noticed that PGM-FI wire harness is melted in the front and back of the wire harness. Can you please help me fix the PGM-FI wire harness
Thanks,
Sondra Pfaff

Hey Sondra! Before doing a repair, you might consider cutting the tape/insulation back around the suspected area of the harness for a better idea of what you're up against. It may not be necessary, but it might be a good idea to disconnect the battery beforehand to make sure you don't inadvertently create a short.
Take a good look at the PGM-FI relay connector while you're there. If you find overheated wires, how far up the harness does the damage go? Are there any copper-to-copper shorts, or just melted insulation?
Would it be fair to assume that you went towards the PGM-FI relay because of a no start condition?

No I started smelling a burning smell and I noticed the melted harness then I took of the tape and found it was melted up the harness. Then I kept smelling the burning smell and took out the multiplex control unit aka blue box and it was fried also since I took out the blue box the smell is gone and I got a new to me blue box. Now I need help fixing the wiring to my PGM-FI.
Thanks,
Sondra

I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX I pulled out my wire harness that my PGM-FI main relay is on and I was going through my wires because they're all melted in some spots and I removed the tape around my wires and I found taped up wires of them being splicedĀ into the same wire I was wondering if the factory would do this or somebody that I bought the car from spliced into the wires. I don't know nothing about wiring but I thought the factory they had all one wire connected to each other without being spliced into each other can someone please help me figure out my Honda Accord EX 98 I don't think this is normal and I think it caused my wires to start melting after my battery blew up or it started before the battery blew up

Those splices look factory to me.
I merged your two topics because they're essentially questions about the same problem with the same car.
Please try to keep questions and updates about the same problem in one of thread. It makes it much easier for everyone.
What lead up to the battery "blowing up"?
I've only ever seen batteries explode by shorting the terminals together, or over gassing and exposed to a spark or flame.

I started smelling something like egg farts or burps then my battery made a loud pop sound like I ran over a pop bottle with the cap barley on it and then everything glitched and smoke was coming from under my dash and the hood of my car
