2002 mercedes c240 key will not turn

I have been working on a 2002 mercedes c240 its had 3 owners and it was rearended with only minor bumper damage and then it was given to me for a rent payment.
Okay... With that being said... it ran for the 6 months that my roommate had it but it was intermittently taking up to 10 times trying to turn the key but an obnoxious clicking was all it would do then bam it would turn and start. Then the last time it worked it died and then it started i drove it home then shut it off and it has never turned since. I've been so frustrated with it that I've been ignoring it. Now... Put the key in ignition and you hear nothing and it will not turn.
First thing i do anytime any vehicle comes in... check the battery then every fuse and relay and replace as needed, check and clean every ground on the vehicle.hook up my solus edge check for codes write them down clear them all then i take it for a drive and see what codes come back if any. Then ill start my troubleshooting.
Did all of this and the scanner cannot detect the ecu because i cannot turn the key. I've ohmed every wire in starting system. ... Good continuity and volts and everything is good...
However i noticed the steering lock wasnt locking. Checked the key and ignition switch for issues and key works and is sending sognal to ignition and no problems with anything but the steering lock.
The steering lock because well it sucks... I mean because it wont ingage.was replaced yesterday and still no change in the steering lock and the key still wont turn.
My solus edge will allow me only to check certain systems. I get both front and back SAM and anti theft the computer will not read the ecu due to the fact that the dadburn key still wont turn. Oh yeah... Mind you... The gauge cluster (digital) is very dim. Oh and... I am able to turn the stereo on and it shuts off roughly after a minute.. the ac fan turns on but the stepper motor is clearly off i can see it stuck but trying and both turn on with no key in ignition. (Correct me here but im not sure thats supposed to happen and if im wrong then whewf) heres the pictures of my solus edge screen with all of the data and im just lost sirs. Is there any thing yall can point me to? I've been working on motorcycles cars boats and semis for 14 years now and im just stupmed on this.
