2007 jeep patriot 2.4l 4x4 cvt tranny . no crank security light on

My daughters jeep took a crap after starter shorted out internaly . the she say youtube video tha had her hit the key with a rubber malett that was avilable to her "pow pow" as hard as she could.... ???? to no avail. starter was replaced , broken skim antenna module replaced with a junker one.reprogaming and new key was sucessful . still no crank. main relay is good wires are good , will turn over when jumped at the tipm yellow and gray ,12 volt signal wire to starter.
Oh it also had one of those crappy kill switch from dealer .no name or any sign of part number. it was removed and strarter switch wire soldered back togther. .i need some help on what to do next? thanx
