'97 Olds 88 with the 3800 type II Series, this 3.8L V6 is GM's most evolved Engine since Chevy's 350 5.7L, this Oldsmobile 88 Royale has been an intermittent issue that began a couple weeks ago. At this point I'm just glad I didn't order a fuel pump online because I'm having a theory of an idea. I was watching my YouTube channels last week and my most viewed channel is ScannerDanner and that's what I was intrigued about but very interested. Paul had a Cadillac Northstar, a come-back in other words the vehicle was brought up here saying the fuel pump needed replaced which Paul did however, it was returned with same problem. So I'm just watching and waiting for the curtain call, Paul is testing the regulator and HERE is the verdict: Fuel pressure regulator is Not responding and it won't hold the pressure, it is not regulating the fuel rail where it should be so it'll be at the proper Trim level to the injectors and drivers, which is 40 psi and steady. So I have what I am believing to be a bad intermittent fuel pressure regulator on the Olds 88 if I were to replace the pump it's not going to fix the problem. Replace the regulator with OEM. I'll follow up tomorrow and hey, THANKS SO MUCH Paul for allowing me to bring my car up here and you too Danner. Much appreciated to all of Scannerdanner students and anybody else interested in the Automotive world, it's not for everybody. You'll know what you're Calling is.
