Toyota 3.4 IAC High Idle was created by junor747
Hello there! I am new to the forum but not new to working on engines. I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 3.4 with a high idle that I can not figure out. It had a high idle before I gave it a timing, and valve job and still does. On startup it can reach as high as 1800 and typically idles around 1,150 or 1,200 when warm. I have hosed down the engine with propane, and can't find a vacuum leak. I have capped off the brake booster, gas canister etc still no change. New TPS sensor with it around 8 % Temp sensor read 180. The butterfly was redone by Boremax and seals the whole way. Soo good in fact if you apply 12v to the IAC close it will kill the engine.
The ohms on the IAC are good cold and I have good ground. The hot wire to the IAC is 13.3. Is that ok or should it be 12v on the money? Lastly, with the IAC unplugged the engine actually idles down about 150 rpm less and then when I plug it in it idles higher. So the ECM is definitely increasing the idle. I have attached the signal from the ECM. It look similar to the post you have on the Lexus engine which is pretty much identical. Do you notice anything? I am brand new to oscilloscope sooo not sure what I am looking at. Any help is appreciated :)
