My 94 Camry 2.2 I-4 quits after driving about 3 miles and won't restart until after cooling down 3-4 hours. I've replaced the ignitor and have replaced the distributor twice. The original distributor had low AC voltage at one of the 2 cam position sensors (car has no crank sensor) and the car wouldn't start at all after going thru a series of engine quits, waiting a few hours until engine starts again. My local repair shops says he has bad luck with imported parts and Toyota no longer sells a new distributors and say they use NAPA for their replacements, I've been getting mine from Rock Auto. Since this vehicle is OBD-I I can't use my scanner on it but when I follow the procedure for checking codes I get nothing. I've also checked the wiring where it goes near the EGR tube for burn thru and found nothing there. The car idles fine after restart for 20 minutes or more and only seems to quit going down the road. Should I get a distributor from NAPA or do you have any suggestions? Would a bad flywheel speed sender cause a problem like this by not sending signal to the computer or would that be limited to cruise control issues only?
