Hey Guys! I’m diagnosing this 2011 Hyundai Accent that shows a P0342 code (camshaft position sensor A circuit low). The car cranks but don’t start.
After watching Scanner Danner videos, I learned that the signal wire should be reading something around 5v. I’m getting around 11.9 in both load and signal wires! Is that normal to have 11v plus in the signal wire? Could it be a short causing the problem?
PS (Client replaced the sensor himself before bring it to me. Sensor is brand new)

5V on the signal circuit is common, but not a hard and fast rule. To verify, I had a look in service info and found this known good waveform provided by Hyundai for the cam and crank sensors:
This shows a 0-12V square wave for the CMP signal. So, your reading of 12-ish volts at your sensor suggests a good signal circuit.

Given the code description, I'd be interested to know what the blue wire does with the key on and the CMP sensor plugged in. Does it go low like the fault suggests? Does the signal change during cranking? You might also check to make sure the camshaft is turning, if you haven't already. :huh:
