Do you experience a battery draw/low battery situation and this is why you want the battery get checked?

You could get the battery checked while disconnected as well.

Wow that was a very profound statement . It sounds vaguely familiar yet new to me just the same. yes I do have a draw and is why the battery check. pretty smart smeller aren't you. I've been on here before with this problem. I went thru the fuses with m/meter and it was the icp/dic #24 on the hit list. I replaced the dash cluster bcuz the gas guage wasn't reading. That was ok cept it didn't stop the draw. I mean if it's deeper , which it has to be. I just cant see me tearing apart my whole dash on a mission and get there and be there and that's it. . But that still doesn't explain why the reading autozone got was doing that. My question is, " can the ignition switch , let's say, skip a tooth when turning the key and cause this? I have no dash lights on. Radio does not stay on, nothing. Lol I had a problem with the switch when I changed it. It was off a few times. Not my fault The pics they showed was not what I was dealing with.

Yeah, no lights on the dash and as soon as somebody gives me a break and adds 3 more hours to the day and before closing I swear I'm gonna make it to the store on time. Thank you! You guys/gals on here are awesome!

Take it easy, step by step....

Some of the given information is not as conclusive as you may think it is. I am not aware of any battery (drain) tester that would indicate engine running, ... nonetheless it may see/I detect an open switch though. This could be true or not.

If the battery runs flat first steps imo include looking for an excessive drain as well as checking the battery condition itself. As mentioned earlier the latter can be done with the battery out of the car/disconnected. I don't see these basic tests have been done already. If they have been done please post the result to go from there.

Wouldn't be the first time an Auto Zone cashier gave bad advice playing technician.
If you don't have the means to check it yourself, you'd be much better off bringing it to a repair shop.
And please don't take this advice as a jab at you! I'm not saying you couldn't figure it out, but if you're at Auto Zone getting the battery checked, you are lacking the tools in your arsenal you will need to find the problem. Sometimes by the time you invest in specialty tools and research and a few wrong parts it's just more effective to hand it to a pro.
