Was driving and the truck turned off and wouldn’t start back up. 7months later, a new rebuilt engine with all new parts in engine bay (everything needed for it to start). Now cranks but no spark and won’t start. Tried to change the crank sensor. Checked and distributor is on (timing is fine), tested the coil it was bad so I bought a new one. Changed ignition module. A lot was changed in the past couple days of trying to rule out what’s wrong. Even changed fuel pump as a last resort. If you need any more info let me know otherwise any help would be appreciated.

Stop throwing parts at it. Go back to basics. Verify fuel pressure, injector pulse, spark occuring and spark strength. Verify compression in cylinders. Verify grounds, and voltage drain in starter circuit. I once replaced an engine and it wouldnt start unless I used a semi truck battery, turns out new trans cooler lines I plumbed were touching the starter housing draining juice. Its often simple overlooked things that get us.

We checked the fuel pressure was at 10 now at 55lbs. Compression, all other spark parts were checked. So far we can’t find anything grounding out. I know majority of the time when the cam is out it will still start but we are replacing the distributor anyway which is the last of the spark parts to be replaced. So far no start. Will try with new distributor today.

So no spark sucks but it gives you a clear diagnostic path. Id look for the dealer repair manuals with the associated trees. Often online.

+1

"Ground cannot be checked with a 10mm socket"

Checked ground at both places before new distributor replacement yesterday. With the new distributor it has a different noise while cranking almost as if the timing was off. Checked the timing and it’s on as it’s supposed to be. Still no start.
