I've had it with a mechanic for a week they have confirmed spark , fuel pressure, and compression. However they don't know what the problem is. We have inspected the ECU and it doesn't appear to be faulty. We have also tried different distributors
I think my mechanic is no where as smart as scannerdanner.

Your information doesn't confirm that the injectors are pulsed. Does the engine start with an external fuel source?

On these older Toyota systems, be it ESA or VAST, the IGF signal must be present or the injectors won't be pulsed.

You got a number on the compression reading?

Does the spark happen at the right time?

I took am curious as to what the compression values are for each cylinder.

the engine was running and then just sputtered and died when It first broke down they have been able to get it to run but I am not sure if it's with a external fuel source but I'm sure it is because I noticed they changed a hose to the intake. most likely because it's easier to spray into
I'm stuck with a parts changer mechanic and I got to fix this car on my own quick

I'm guessing it does start on a external fuel source , and can you explain what those abbreviations mean

ESA= electronic spark advance,
VASC = variable advance spark timing

These are two different ignition management systems Toyota used back in these ldays. Both use a dedicated ignition module but in one the spark timing signal(IGT : ignition timing) controls directly coil negative from the engine computer while on the other one this IGT signal is sent to the ignition module. The ignition module then controls the firing of the coil.

The IGF signal (ignition fail or ignition feedback) has to be created and sent back to the ECM, otherwise the injectors will not be activated.

If the car indeed starts on external fuel you may want to look at injector power, IGF signal and injector pulses.

The sputtering you experienced when the engine failed may also point to running out of fuel.
