Battery Indicator 2007 Subaru Forester was created by NoWhereMan
2007 Subaru Forester 2.5X AT

Battery and Brake Indicator Light

Intermittent illumination of indicator generally a few minutes following startup and 2-3 miles traveled.

Oreillys Autometer Scan Tool passed battery and alternator

At home multimeter
Voltage check of battery
engine off: 12.7V
idle: 13.7V
2500-3000 rpm: 14V

Cleaned terminals
Tightened pivot bolt (alternator housing ground)
Checked battery fluid (minimal DI water added no plates exposed prior)
Belts were loose , now tightened
Messed with cables while using multimeter to see if there was a break in the cable

indicator problem persists

AutoZone scantool
Battery passes
Voltage regulator passes
Charging current fails

Oreillys scantool again
Battery passes
Voltage regulator fails

misc. Location Houston, Texas and currently hotter n' hell

Recommendations related to what I should now inspect given the conflicting scantool diagnostics
Would like to confirm or have positive diagnosis before getting a rebuild kit for the alternator

Many Thanks
