+1

Which module set the B1601? Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Can you access pcm and look how many keys are programmed? May be in the cluster as some fords are but you need to find out if there is any programmed keys

Thank you Cheryl for your help.

There are 2 keys stored in the pcm.

Almost seems like the transceiver is bad if there’s 2 keys already stored in the pcm or bad key. Maybe try getting 2 new keys from the dealer and try program them or a transiever module

The pcm set the code.

Gotcha. If that's the case, then I'd suggest getting two new keys cut and using the Erase and Program function in PATS.

There isn't an old key zip tied to the PATS tranceiver, right? :silly:

Just saw this. When the engine was swapped did the original PCM/ECM stay with the car or did a PCM from where the engine came from get installed in this vehicle with the engine?

I want to post this then look at more info as for example the early 2000's F-150 trucks, some people thought they didn't have immo but the heritage, HD edition and any others specified actually do have it as my understanding was ur was a higher trim level so it came with better options at the time.

I figured this out one day when called to a f-150 where another shop, 60+ yrs in business had been there 3-4 times and told him over and over there was no security.

I went to the car, turned the ignition with the metal key and as soon I turned it I knew what the problem was as it, the security light was flashing.

Got 2 chip keys, programmed them in and all was good.

Even stopped in a couple months later about 2 weeks ago and asked the owner how it was doing while he gave me a haircut and he said it's ran with no issues since then.

IF you tried a used PCM did you use a scan tool and do a PMI so the system knows that the PCM was swapped?

Also keep very close track of everything you're dough as it potentially could save you some $$ if someone else has to come in and look at it as the less they know the more time they'll have to spend and ultimately the more they'll charge.
