My 1989 Chevy Silverado K1500 will not engage into reverse. It engages in D, but not in R. Not even when I put it in 4x. All fluids are fine. Battery and starter have all been checked and are fine. Everything works except that it won't kick in when I put it in reverse even with the 4 wheel drive. I'm at a loss for what to do because I don't know what's going on.

Look at scan data to see if there any codes and check if solenoid is working for that gear. Also look at wiring at connector at trans and at pcm.

Sounds like it needs a transmission
"Ground cannot be checked with a 10mm socket"
