Help us help you. 2010 GMC Terrain 2.4 ecotec 155,000 miles). Runs fine (and smooth) until warmed up (about 20 minutes at idle), then rough idle, stalling, erratic timing, and blue smoke. There was a broken timing chain guide so all new chains, guides, VVT sprockets and VVT solenoids, fresh oil and spark plugs. Still same thing, 20 minutes and misses and stalls. Let it cool down overnight and repeats same thing. Seems to be a very common issue with these engines. My next plan is to replace the ECM? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Would it be possible for you to observe scan data during the warm up/stall and post it here? I see that you noted erratic timing, but it'd be good to have at least some idea of what's missing when the engine stalls.
I'm sure you would have mentioned it, but are there any fault codes stored?
Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town. I ordered and replaced the ECU but now I cannot tell if that was the problem because of a security key relearn issue. I created a new topic titled:
2010 GMC Terrain 2.4 - ECM replaced but cannot perform security key relearn
This is the same vehicle, maybe you could take a look at that post. Once that issue is resolved I will know if the original problem was corrected or not and go from there.
Thanks
