I have a 2007 mazda 3 2.0 auto the relay intermittently does not always engage to let power to starter . I load tested battery which is fully charged then I tested voltage at relay and get 12.4 volts on both the battery terminal and the ignition terminal. Could I be losing ground to keep the relay from sending power to the starter. fyi starter works fine if you jump power to solenoid terminal and car will start most of time with the key
I think a good place to look without getting too intrusive is scan data.
Check for ignition switch position, park/neutral, start request and starter relay command.
If the request is seen and the command is not sent, then it's time to look toward inputs. If the command is sent and the starter doesn't operate, then it's time to do some circuit checks.
