Havent used it but wonder if just O2 sensor thread chaser is good enough to clean up threads to use?

Normal O2 sensors are the old M18x1.5 spark plug thread --- last used on Ford SOHC
Normally a chean up with a thread repair chaser tap is all that is required.
The thread on sensor boss is quite short so using a Helicoil might be tricky but timesert style solid insert kit,

If it were me and I wanted to do it on the cheap (and if you have a welder of course). I would just fill weld a plug in the old hole and weld a new bung on in roughly the same spot, or you could even cut the bung off and weld a new one where it used to be.

Something like this depending on your thread size.

Unfortunately I don't have a welder or know anyone around the area that would do that
