Has anyone installed any of those led strips on their lift? I see rotary has a kit for $650...and home depot has one for $130. I was thinking of just a generic strip plugged into the outlet on the post.

You mean this one?

I could go for that! Unfortunately my two lifts get used by other techs the other two days of the week I'm not there. :(

Yep, that's the one I saw. Obviously the rotary one is ridiculously overpriced. We all have our lights but it would be cool to have more without having to hold or mount it. I wonder if the cheap led strips have decent output.

I've got some with 5050 LEDs that are very bright. One problem using them on a rack is you'd be seeing spots every time you looked at 'em. And they're not exactly robust so I'm not sure they'd hold up.

One tip if you do try them is solder the connectors onto the strips. They're supposed to be push on but that doesn't give a reliable contact IME.

About the only automotive thing I've done is sticking them inside a piece of aluminum channel to use as a 12V underhood light. It works pretty well and the channel stops them blinding you.

For lighting up the underside of vehicles I've got a couple LED floodlights screwed to pieces of board. They look a bit Redneck but work well.
