Which method do you do when servicing/repairing brakes to clean the caliper brackets under the hardware.
I've tried a few different ways but am not sure which one I like the best. I have used a 90* die grinder with a green cookie, straight 3" cut off wheel, and Sawsall.
What do you you to use?

For normal servicing chip the worst off then an angle grinder with wire brush. - wear eye protection and face mask, then flap wheel. I have two angle grinders one always has a wire brush in it the other setup for a flap wheel or grinding disk.
Never tried one of those pneumatic needle chippers but I have seen them used for big stuff.
I noticed Eric O has some good tools for this kind of work.
For anybody restoring a car that can soak the parts for a month or so in hand there are other ways that will bring the steel parts up like new --- mild acid bath (vinegar or citric acid or phosphoric acid) or even better electrolysis in a soda solution.

I use a pneumatic needle scaler works great & doesn't take off excess material from the bracket. Snap on sells bluepoint version for under a $100

I like the needle scaler tool, but have never used it for this purpose.
I usually knock off any big rust scales, then follow up with a brown cookie wheel on the die grinder then give it a once over with a triangle shaped file that I can get into the corners and crevices.
