Aftermarket garbage was created by Andy.MacFadyen
I was asked by family to fit aftermarket parking sensors and a double din Android head unit with a rear view camera to a 3 series e46 . My relative sourced all the required parts for the conversion including BMW parts required to relocated the AC controls
The reversing sensors turned out to have one channel dead on the control unit --- no big deal as the whole the kit only cost £12 (15$ US) and supplier sent out a replacement the next day.
However fitting the double DIN head unit has been a nightmare. The head unit and camera although both very cheap units are absolutely fine but hole the double DIN fascia adapter plate was simply the wrong size , it turns out the "Double Din" standard isn't a real standard that suppliers keep to and there are three different versions of it. After a bit of a search a new fascia plate and cage have been ordered from Germany but at $$$ cost.

For anybody wanting an Android head unit in an E46 I would strongly recommend spending the extra money for a custom head unit designed for the car you will spend a bit more but save an awful lot of frustration.
