I was asked to do a quick fix on a split plastic bumper, I bought one of those tools for inserting hot staples into the plastic -- amazingly quick to use i put 5 staples in in less than 2 minutes then a very quick weld with a gas soldering iron. The tool cost £32 (about 38) with a huge supply of staples. This tool is amazing a good buy even if you don't normally body work.

I've done something very similar using paperclips bent into a W shape and a propane torch to fix a piece of plastic. You never would have known it was cracked. Of course, I copied a tool just like this. I need to pick one of these up.

If you work on cars when it's cold you're bound to crack a piece of plastic eventually.

I've seen similar at Harbor Freight, haven't pulled the trigger yet. It's good to hear a positive review from a trusted source ;)
