Custom/homemade tools

Tried looking for a thread on the subject and found nothing so here it goes. If there's another thread just let me know and I'll post there.

Here's an oil filter wrench I made from a spark plug socket and a section of a Honda timing chain. Works great!

Spent years untangling my test leads that seemed to want to tie themselves in a knot no matter what I did. So, I encased them in a sheath. No more tangling! And, the sheath will protect them from heat and abrasion.

My big problem is burning test leads on the exhaust particular secondary ignition probes.

The sheath I used is 1/4". It expands to about 3/4" making it easy to put over the lead ends. I think it will fit over BNC ends no problem.

I've posted this before, but one of my favorite home made tools is an aluminum baseball bat with the top cut off. It's the perfect leverage multiplier to slip over a breaker bar. It's already got a nice rubber grip, and absorbs the shock when a stubborn fastener breaks loose.
I was using it yesterday on the handle of the bench vise in the shop to press a broken bolt out of a control arm bushing ;)

Got sick of tubs of grease laying around, brushes getting messy. Anyone who does this for a living, getting moly grease out of clothes or off customers seats is impossible. The less mess you make the less chance of it happening.

This is a syringe with the bristles of a brush glued to the end with epoxy. Need more grease? Push the plunger. It stays clean and honestly, I waste a lot less of the grease. I've got a couple of these with different substances in them.

Another benefit is the substances don't dry out because they're always in a sealed container.

I love the brush idea! B) I use white lithium all the time, but the tub is a dirt magnet. This would be much cleaner.

Yep, I still have mine. Parts guys and shop visitors always comment on it.

Here's one I made to get off a stubborn fuel line connector on a Saturn the other day but could also be used on wire harnesses. I'm going to pick up a few different types of pliers from Harbor Freight and put a weld bead on the tip of them to basically do the same thing.

I needed a ratchet that could go around a corner. I sacrificed a couple of pivoting gear wrenches and made this. The joints lock and unlock creating dozens of angle possibilities. I've used it for years without any sign of breaking.

The first time I took a Volkswagen axle out I discovered this...

Had to come up with something so I welded two bolt heads together and made this...

Still have it to this day. Never needed to buy one.

. I have one of those, but I made mine by running a 19mm lug nut onto the 17mm VW lug stud and welded them together :)
It's quicker to make a new one than it is to find the one I already made.
