Dear All, how to identify VERUS scanners ? I have seen them with just VERUS on the scanner bezel, VERUS PRO and VERUS EDGE
Any thoughts on the limitations of the plain old VERUS ? I have a friend who has one that is missing everything - wants $3-400 for it .. was wondering if it wasnt worth the trouble of acquiring everything - thoughts would be appreciated thanks

An expert is someone who knows each time more on each time less, until he finally knows absolutely everything about absolutely nothing.

Different versions do have different product codes, starting with EEMS followed by numbers.
The "original" Versus was wired by cable to the dlc, later it was enhanced with a Bluetooth model. The software updates for both versions of this original Versus ended with 17.4. If the one you may purchase isn't on 17.4 it may give you a hard time to get there, SO won't do this.
Make sure to check if it comes with European software, personality key...Check prices for the add ons you'll want, buying them from SO will exceed several times the prize your buddy is asking.
The battery of a 1st. gen. Verus most probably will be junk.
In the end you might be better of looking for something more complete and newer instead of trying to flog a dead horse.

Exactly what he said!
If the battery isn't trash and if it comes with the data cables and personality keys then that's a pretty good price. The scope test leads can be sourced anywhere if that's all that's needed.
If it has no data cables and no keys, I'd pass.
