You like your Rover 75’s lol had a bmw 1 series 118i 2.0 petrol yesterday multiple misfires non start due to inlet Vanos solenoid blocked by broken up oil filter.

That can cause a no start!?
I almost lost my shirt on a BMW with inlet vanos codes, low power and misfires that ended up needing an oil filter o-ring.
Customer changes his own oil.

"Ground cannot be checked with a 10mm socket"

Yes non start due to plunger stuck open on inlet camshaft solenoid,leading to no compression in any cylinder,when stuck solenoid unsticks it restores compression,allowing engine start,as far as this particular car concerned,it also is loosing coolant down the exhaust lol.
