Hi all,retired tech,used to use a modis ms300 yrs ago,just purchased a used one that has the 14.4 build which can scan up to 2013 domestic vehicles.would like to get a update to be able to scan up to 2016 vehicles,I only maintain my own vehicles now, can this modis be updated? it does have the mini usb port in the handle,if so,how do I update it?
To program a key often you need other critical information like a pin/immobilizer code. The tool will NOT pull this information. You will find that most time you'll need dedicated tools for key programming. Though on some GM product of the mentioned era the MODIS will allow to enter the 3x 10 minutes relearn procedure, for example.
FOB learning is similar, it will be much more miss than hit, especially on non domestic vehicles.

The mentioned Chrysler products require a secret key code to program keys. The Malibu probably features what's called a PK 3 system. Check wether these digits are engraved in the blade of an original key...
Sum up: the MODIS will not really help you with key programming on your vehicles.
