Hi,
Can anyone suggest where I should look to buy an old CarDAQ 2534 other than ebay? Is there a reputable retailer of used hardware anyone can recommend?

What part of the United States you live in?

Are you set exclusively on drew tech? Which car daq are you wanting to get?

Just a fyi make sure if you're doing that you get a good stable battery maintainer, not a booster, jump pack as reprogramming tends to go south when the right equipment isn't used throughout the process.

Newer car can draw between 70-100amps.

Not trying to discourage but more so let you know that there's going to be some hurdles, etc.

If you want to learn more unless you have I'd suggest checking out Keith with L1 Training. He's got some great videos on YouTube and a ton more on his own website.

He's got walk thrus ,etc that will open one's eyes in regards to the processes, equipment needed.

Just out of curiosity are you planning to work on 1 brand or multiple lines?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and advice. Will check out Keith with L1 training, haven't come across his channel before.

Just looking at replacing a CarDaq 2534 for the moment to ensure compatibility with some old software. I can't find one for a reasonable price on ebay. I have a few other tools which I use depending upon the car and have recently started using a picoscope.

What vehicles are you working with as there's techs here that work with alot of brands and could definitely bring more to the table if they knew what path you're forging for programming, etc.

Are you wanting something basic and possibly looking for a scan tool at the same time as Autel has a combo on a few machines that have j 2534. Make sure you've got a good maintainer though as guys try using boost boxes, regular battery chargers and generally the ones you hear about getting bricked are the ones where the equipment wasn't properly held with stable voltage with a maintainer with little to no ripple as you can't have much fluctuation on some vehicles.

In a pinch you can use another running vehicle as a battery maintainer......as long as it's not a BMW or something similar where an all modules reprogramming session can take (and will take) hours.

An expert is someone who knows each time more on each time less, until he finally knows absolutely everything about absolutely nothing.
