So my MT2400 was crying for new D batteries AGAIN.

And I had a broken, taped together Snap-On neck lamp hanging around.

So I repeatedly smashed them together until the two tools were integrated, resulting in an abomination that is now rechargeable (and two D cells lighter)

Still in proof of concept stage so to speak.

It's a magnet on my dry erase board. Keen eye ;)
For a magnet, it's a quality piece of merch!

It will probably stay like this for the foreseeable future.
Gets about 6 hours of on-time.
Not great but more than adequate considering I can charge it between uses if needed or even use it plugged in.

My Vantage Pro Version 11.4 has always work as intended BUT on my last connection to ShopStream it took away the Component Test part of the software. Now I do not have it on the tool. Has anyone run into this situation?. All other aspects of the tool functions as intended. Please ,if someone knows a procedure to recuperate the Component Test side of the tool will appreciate the possible solution. Thanks

I call SO. No solutions due to the unsupported (circa 2017) state of the tool. In other words...........when getting SO diagnostic tools check they are still supporting it. This event leave me..................with a two (2) channels scope with a GMM/DVOM........it certainly was a great lost of diagnostic info. Thanks Noah, for your help.

This is a long shot but you could try connecting the tool to an older version of shopstream.

Matt. I have been using the same Shopstream version up to the lost of the Component Test on my tool with no problems that is...until my last connection to it If you may would you expand your comment why your suggestion may work?. thank for your valuable contribution on this matter. I been using a card reader for my CF#2 files when I need to work with Shopstream in that way the Vantage Pro is not directly connected to the PC. Only, I wished I use this strategy before.....

That SSC version would only apply if you'd connected the PC to the tool.

Are you sure you didn't remove CF1 by mistake? Or pulling either card with the tool powered up might have done something. Either way it sounds like something might have gotten corrupted or deleted on CF1. About the only way you might be able to fix that is if you can get a CF1 image from another tool to copy files from.

When I need to extract either CF card I make certain to have the tool power OFF always. I even remove the battery pack prior to handling the cards. As for getting the files from other VP ...can be possible? since each CF1 software is married to its own host VP. On any case , I am going to explore more into your suggestion. Thanks for all your replies

Noah . According to SO diagnostics support the drained CMOS battery on my VP is not allowing the restore function on the tool to work properly and fix the Component Test issue . Additionally it seems the battery can not be changed since they do not have a way to set the new date on the software. Definitely , bad times for me.

Isn't the CMOS battery just a battery on the board? I'd think connecting to the software, shopstream connect on a laptop or desktop you may ghave had might set the time? Just a thought I had.

Maybe find someone with one and rerad the chip off it and alter the scanner identifier data on the file you pull? I'd definitely backup all current configuration files on the device.

Maybe talk with your franchisee and let him know you're looking for one cheap in case he has someone trade as he's not going to give the person much on trade anyways.

Theres a guy named Daryll Caughron . He's on the Snap On Zeus users group on Facebook that Justin Dow created. I've spoke with him on chat a few times which is how I know he and another guy are some type of diagnostic guys for Snap On last I knew. He's also on Automotive Insight Network group on Facebook and many other groups. They generally help guys that seem to be having issues with some of their stuff. He's been resourceful for me I'd say.

Talk with him via Facebook Messenger and maybe he could point you in a direction? Just a long shot.... I'll share this page link with him as well. Maybe he has an account here and can chime in.

Well, I kilt it...
Got six months out of that crap ass flashlight battery.
Eventually I'll (begrudgingly) spend money on some new rechargable battery set up. But until then, I have a cell phone with a broken screen and a perfectly good battery!
You know the trick, smash them together to the point of integration....

I have questions! :woohoo: Dead sick and tired of feeding D-cells to my Vantage every week.

What's the voltage requirement of the Vantage? What's the output of that cell phone battery?

I've thought about buying a rechargeable 18650 cell and making it fit into the Vantage case. Any reason this wouldn't work?

I don't know! Noah smash!!

One D cell is 1.5v so 2 is 3v and the Samsung displays nominal voltage of 3.8v. Fully charged it measured just over 4v and ran the Vantage while measuring it's own battery voltage in graphing mode for 6hrs 45min.
Still using the charging board from the Snap On neck lamp.
