Guys I have a $500 budget for a scanner/diagnostics equipment for my garage shop. Don't laugh lol. Mostly fixing family and friends vehicles but trying to grow my little side business. In this small town everything is GM, Ford and Chrysler. Any advice on how to spend my money on diagnostic equipment is greatly appreciated! Newest model I'll see for a while is probably a 2015 maybe. The old 2000 and prior stuff I've been doing well with the test light, multi meter, code reader and plenty of experience. Engine performance is my drive now, really want to build a reputation as a go to guy for diagnostics but with 5 kids the budget is tight! I've got to start somewhere if I'm ever going to reach my goal. Thanks for looking.

You can get a Original Snap on Modis for around 500. It's what I started with. 4 channel lab scope and full bi directional controls.

For right at your budget or a little more, you can get an Autel MK808:

www.amazon.com/Autel-MK808BT-Diagnostic-...pports/dp/B07H3M98FL

That's just the first link I found - you can probably find it for even less.

The MK808 is tough to beat for the price. Bluetooth, excellent functionality, and the updates are dirt cheap (compared to Snappy, anyway).
