Parasitic Draw with dual batteries

Working on tracking down a draw on a f250 with dual batteries. I connected my amp meter between the negative terminal and the negative post of the battery, but I got to thinking, there is another ground still attached so is all or half of the current traveling through that ground instead? should i completely unhook that one and measure at the first one?

I'd also love some clarification on this one. I've never been clear about correct draw testing on dual battery systems.

It may or may not be the "right" way to do it, but I always go for the one closest to the fuse box. It's always been my assumption that if it's dual battery, 12 volt system, the amperage has to flow through your meter either way.

No disconnecting only 1 battery will not give you accurate draw reading

I take it is not split charge --- you will really need to disconnect one with only battery at a time testing for and test each battery for a dead/shorted.
ISTR Eric O videoed an issue with a dual battery set up on a snow plow a couple years back.
