Hi, I’m just a DIY’er who’s trying to be a good DIY’er and not a parts changer. I just got done watching (and rewatching) chapter 3. I was hoping there’s a pro out there that can tell me if it would be acceptable to test a computer/module using a pin drag test tool (as demonstrated in the chapter) for testing at the female terminal, with the harness unplugged, for voltage using a test light connected to ground. It seems to me that this would be a good way to confirm a cooked power side switched transistor rather than relying on the ruling out all other possibilities. Especially on high amp solenoids that can’t be reliably ohm tested.
So with the module unplugged you might not get the desired activity from the driver.
Depending on what you're testing, you can usually replace the load with your test light to see if it lights up with the driver on. I've cut wires before and connected my test light to the wire closest to the module to see if it lights up, then repaired the wire later.
Maybe I'm not totally understanding the set up you have in mind though.
