I, recently, bought one of Nicholsons's Pulse Sensor. When I got it I threw it into to nearest tail pipe. Here are a few pics compared with a First Look Sensor:
Blue=FLS Red=NPS
The FLS seems to have 3x the amplitude. But, the NPS seems to have 3x the resolution.

FLS Vs NPS

NPS zoomed 3x.

I hesitate to share these next ones because I'm not sure what is going on. I need to do some more playing, before I reach a conclusion. I am interested, though, what anyone thinks about these.

The second tail pipe I put the NPS in, I saw a difference in the FLS. So, I added a WPS500. This is what I got:

Blue=First Look Sensor, Red=Nicholson's Pulse Sensor, Green=WPS500

This is with the WPS on top of the FLS vs NPS

Here, is all three stacked on top of each other.

This was the third tailpipe. I did this, as an after-thought, to see if there was a difference in the Banana and BNC signals...nope. It looked beautiful. This is the NPS Banana Plug and BNC vs FLS.

I think I found the problem. These waveforms should be a flat line. The first one is with the NPS connected using the Banana plugs. The second is with the NPS connected with a BNC cable. In each picture, I am slightly wiggling the cables where they connect to the NPS.

Here is the same car, Exhaust, cranking. Notice the NPS has, what looks like, an extra little exhaust pulse. I believe this is a bad connection inside the NPS?

Thoughts?

You sure it's not the cable?
The cable has more of a opportunity to fail vs the internal of the sensor.
If it was a sensor fault. It would show in the details you have already posted.
I'm thinking it's the cable. Do you have another BNC cable to use.
Also note my sensors I will warranty.

I made some home build ones real McGyver stuff I came to the conclusion the physical construction of the sensor has a huge impact on the signal, it is sensitive to the extent I don't think two identical sensors from the same manufacturer will give the exactly same waveform. In the end I bought a Ditex sensor but haven't used it much.
