Hi Paul, ( and others ),
I just watched your movie:
It is a great explanation. i have a quations. i have some old mercedes cars from 1968 untill 1976 with a conventional cap rotor ignition setup. i want to buy a scope to test the ignitions. i looked for the old sun testers. they work fine, dont cost much, but they are Hugh!!. is there a good ( not to expensive) alternative scope that i can connect to a laptop or tablet which does the same test as you just showed on this video? I look forward to your reply. thanks! Igor

Moved this one to the Tools section.
You can put together a lower cost Snap-On setup with a used Vantage Pro and the secondary ignition leads. The picture you get out of it won't be as big or clear as what you see on the Sun scope, but it can do the same parade setup as you saw in the video.
The Verus can do the same, and has a bigger screen, but will cost more. As far as connecting to a laptop or tablet, I'm not sure. Hoping Andy has some suggestions on that one.

One cheap option that will do the job for you is the Hantek 1008.
This is a real bargain basement scope not the greatest quality but it works well and comes complete with a DIS probe for your type of ignition.
Enrique Onsorio has a few videos of it on Youtube.
