Hey guys. I have to start anything from my 2.5 Altima top a 6 0 gas GM. I currently have a jnc 770r but I leave it at home. I'm looking to buy a portable lithium jump pack. I saw danner reviewed the noco but it's a bit out of my price range unless as a last resort. I've come across two in particular I'm interested in. The JNC318 which advertises 700 peak amps (useless) and 330 start assist amps. The other one is a cal-van allstart boost max 560 which advertises 450 cranking amps, 900 peak.

I'm wondering how inflated some specs are. I know clore is a good name in automotive jump packs. The 330 sounds low to me but since they advertise start assist amps instead of cranking it cold cranking amps, it makes me wonder what exactly they're measuring with. Three cal-van took leaves me skeptical.

If anybody has other suggestions after clearing things up for me I'm open to it. I'm very picky with my tools and like to stick with well known brands (I hate being the Guinea off. Another brand I see recommended a lot is anti gravity. Their big pack is 300 cranking amps. So... HELP.

I can't speak to personal experience any of these particular units but ........

Cold crankimg amps isn't the amps a battery can supply it is the number of amps a 12-volt battery can deliver at 0°F for 30 seconds while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts.
Peak amps aren't a good guide to starting power, Lithium booster packs have less internal ressistance than lead-acid batteries are usually rated in Joules of energy a 7000 Joule lithium can deliver a real world 1000 amp for at 10v for 3 seconds.

A 7000 Joule pack is the normal suggested choice for a 6 litre gasoline engine.

With this type of booster pack the quality and robustness of the connections are very important.

Looking at the specs something equivalent to a NOCO GB40 more than meet your expectations. The Boost Max seems to meet these specs.

Believe it or not, these are actually pretty reliable. www.walmart.com/ip/JUMP-N-CARRY-12V-JUMP...0Dj7TNsaAjfxEALw_wcB
I turned my nose up at them at first and bought a tool truck one (no regrets), and the shop bought one of these. It's taken tons of abuse, been left outside, run completely flat and dubiously charged. It still starts damn near anything.
