Transponder key testers? was created by Cheryl
Does anyone have any testers to test if the transponder is good in a key? I am working on a Ford F-150 and getting a b1681 and don’t want to drop money on keys and don’t fix the issue plus I’d be able to add to my tools I already have

I haven't seen anything that checks the response from the transponder chip but I have the tool that checks if the coil round the key barrel is transmitting when a key inserted

The DIY version is wrap a few coils of fine wire round the key and connect one end to scope + the other to ground with a fast screen you should see the coil on the car transmitting.
