Hi first of all if I'm in the wrong section or I should be looking elsewhere please let me know.
Question: I can't afford a snap on versus but is the modus with a 4 channel scope just has good, my solus I think just sucks , I get more info out of my torque pro app on my android phone.
So what's the next best thing to a versus
Thanks

Hey Paul.
This is the right section for this question, no worries! (Even if it wasn't we could move it for you. No harm done)

I started out with a Solus Pro, which was fine at the time, then moved up to the Modis. Navigation and set up is essentially the same as the Solus, so you would have no trouble picking it up and using it having experience with a Solus. You can view more PIDs at the same time on a Modis than you can on the Solus. The main difference between the Modis 4 channel lab scope and the Verus 4 channel lab scope function is the touch screen. Which doesn't sound that important, but having been using my Verus for a while, I get frustrated trying set up the scope on the Modis now.
That said, the scope on the Modis is pretty much identical to that of the one on the Verus (a couple buttons my be different depending on what software version you're running).
I see early generation Verus machines (with personality keys, not the wireless version) right around the thousand dollar mark. Used Modis machines I've seen around $800. Of course, depending on the software package.

My snappy dealer told me that they are no longer offering updates to the MODIS with the 4 channel scope as of 16.4 I think.

The dealers in the UK don't seem to get many seconds, but a lot of private sellers try and sell but most have held back with some hardware. But still want 1,800 UK sterling ..., ouch !!

Right around $1000 US for an update
16.4 would be the last quarter of 2016.
11.2 would be second quarter 2011 and so on and so on.
There's more garages than cars where I live, and the Snap-On guys are pretty good selling the new scan tools, so there's usually a fair amount of used equipment on the truck. My rep is pretty good to me and fair all round to guys who pay on time. It's not a big deal for him to sell guys like us at smaller independent shops used equipment and push the big dollar new toys on dealerships and higher volume shops.

If you don't work on the newest of vehicles, the 13.2 updated one might work.

That's good up to June 2013 vehicles. 90% of what I work on myself would fit into that timeframe. Knowing you are buying it for what it is updated to and if the price is right, it may be worth it. How much for the 13.2?

That's great toy right there!
I don't know if you're a premium youtube subscriber, but there is an excellent Verus training series. You'll find that most of it carries directly over to your Modis.
And if you're not a premium subscriber, you could always just sign up for the free 2 week trial, watch the training and then cancel your subscription.
Of course there's quite a few users here that have experience with that tool, myself included. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
The 12 part series is here

Well thanks Noah , yes it's a great toy , but I felt it wasn't a big step up and a tool for future.
After watching a few vids on the you tube of users , I decided to go deep into my pockets and pull out a Verus not the pro, it arrives on Thursday can't wait, :cheer:
So I will be having a play , and then see about becoming a premium user.
What's good for Scannerdanner will be awesome for me. :)

That's the one I've got now
There's some instructional stuff you can do on the Snap-On web site, but even if you only watch the Verus series on the premium channel, you'll be ahead of the curve. I paid $50 to go to labscope seminar put on by snap on a couple months ago and it wasn't especially impressive after I'd already watched the ScannerDanner material. At least there was food...
