Hi all
Just wondering if you could clarify something for me, I have a vehicle in the shop just now that has only done approximately 17000 miles however the ECU says that since DTU reset 21952 how can this be different...... could the car have been clocked if so is this possible on a digital dash .... This is in the UK..... if this is the case can anyone tell me how I should approach this to the customer
Cheers
I know for example BMW & Rover store the mileage in KM but the instrument pack display this translates ito n miles, not all scantools can handle this. While this dosen't fully explain this as 17,000 miles is about 27,000 klicks it could be the vehicle had a DTU reset under warranty and the mileage wasn't programmed in. Some manufacturers hold the mileage in mutiple modules to allow cross checking. For example BMW hold the mileage in the instrument pack, Light switch module and in the ignition key and possibly other locations.
