I found some light bulbs that look like they might be useful to some of us with the right kind of test light... this place is JKL Components Corporation: www.jkllamps.com/incandescent/fuselamps nice thing is, they list the current draw.

And if you want to get them from Digi-Key: www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/jkl-co.../289-1224-ND/1552938 I love Digi-Key they have taken extremely good care of my electronic component needs for a long time. Recently they (a salesperson stayed on the line with the tech support specialist) spent about 20 minutes with me cross-referencing miniature relays. I need one to fix a microwave for which the OEM had obsoleted the original part, the relay cost $2.50 - you can hardly find that kind of help anymore. btw, the microwave is still doing fine!

I am going to order some GF780s from Digi-Key and I will report back if they fit my new Craftsman light or not. I don't really like the red bulb it came with.

The bulbs arrived yesterday, that was quick! They work great, and just as described, they are 150mA.

I also have sources for the terminals (Yazaki, Sumitomo) such as the 2.3II that Toyota uses if anyone is interested in building testing connectors or harness repairs. Toyota also sell the connector housings online with seals and all, I ordered some and repaired my Solara's A/F sensor harness side connector. Also some of the GM Metri Pack terminals, I bought some 150s, the little ones that are in the 5-wire EGR and mass airflow connectors, etc.

Which Craftsman test light did you get? Just curious if these will fit my OTC light. LOVE the idea of increasing it's draw, as it sometimes has trouble actuating certain EVAP solenoids. Could use a jumper wire, but the light is more convenient ;)

YES. I've actually been browsing Amazon for kits like this, with all the rodent damage repairs I've been doing recently. Little bastards love to chew the wire off right at the weatherpack  The shop has a selection of wiring harnesses to cannibalize, but I can never seem to find the pins I need...

If it ever comes down to it, I can UPS you any specific connector or pigtail I may have at the junkyard. Assuming times isn't of the essence of course.

I bought this one: www.craftsman.com/products/craftsman-coil-cord-circuit-tester but I also want one of the minis: www.craftsman.com/products/craftsman-min...-cord-circuit-tester

That link is for the Yazaki 2.3II terminals, I went all the way back to the Home page and it looks like you can get Delphi too.

www.repairconnector.com/

This is where I got the GM Metri Pack terminals and I think Delphi makes them or at least they probably designed them for GM but I'm guessing.

And from Toyota... they sell it as a pigtail complete with seal: www.toyotaonlineparts.com/oe-toyota/8299812440

Yep, same ones I have! They're rebranded OTC lights, so if they fit yours then I'm good B)

Oh, cool, I didn't realize that it was a rebranded OTC, if Sears ever goes under at least there is still a source for them.

And, I also realized that if we want to we can swap in a fuse and have a fused jumper. I am pretty sure you can get the AGC (I think that's right) fuses in 250 and 500 mA. You could put like a band of red electrical tape around it or something to identify that it's your jumper and not the test light.

Dude that's brilliant! That 500mA could be nice in certain situations, especially because fuses that low aren't commonly available in ATO or ATC.

Thread bump! Just sending a thanks to Gary B on this one. ;) Noticed the bulb in my go-to light lost brightness recently, not sure why... Anyway, ended up going with the JKL GF780. I'm hoping I'll like the clear bulb output better than the red. ;)

Got the bulbs! Some before and after comparison. Weak and tired bulb:

Shiny new:

To be safe, I did a current measurement:

Pretty darn close to the advertised 150mA. B)

Mr. Tyler.

You are using my favorite test light!!!! I can only imagine why?????????:silly: :silly: :silly: :silly:

It is highly customizable, as you can see in my photo.

All my test stuff is 4mm Banana Jack now, so this makes it scope-friendly and DVOM-friendly!!!;)
