Auto-Ditex Relative compression tester --- hand held unit for those who don't wanr to use a scope. Link to Auto-ditex. I can see the attraction in this tool for dealership want to de-skill the test or those techs who lack the confidence in using a scope. Auto-Ditex have also updated their oscilloscope software to include a realtive compression tesr.

This looks pretty slick. I was wonder how it determines which cylinder is low without a sync, but then I realized that it probably doesn't. :silly: It just shows if there is a low cylinder, not which one.

I agree a bit like those alternator voltage testers with the LED pass/fail lights it is more of a yes/no tool for the service bay or roadside assistance tool than full diagnostic tool but on the other hand even you are using a scope and identify a seriously low cylinder it will be a case of telling the customer either we need to investigate further with a full compression/leak-down test or your engine is junk is the car worth fixing? It would still be a cool tool to try out.

Totally. I'd do my very best to fool it. I see this is still in the development phase - let the SD crew test it!
