Thoughts on these creaders was created by woody367
I was wondering if anybody can recommend something good for like $150-200? was told to look at the Topdon ad500 and the KINGBOLEN S600 or S800. . What should I consider. I would like to get the most Bang for my buck. I am a DIYer and work mainly on Ford and GM. Looking for live data, mode 6 and to be able to read and clear codes. The larger the font and screen the better for my failing eyes, LOL  Also, would prefer not to have to pay a huge annual subscription for it. Any recommendations? Thank you

I still think the TopDon TopScan is the best bang-for-the-buck in scan tools these days. Works on Ford and GM, reads Mode $06, plus some limited resets/magic button pressing functions.

There are other overpowered dongle code readers out there, too. Thinkdiag, Kingbolen, Xtool Anyscan. They all have similar software and capabilities, in my experience.

This is the only problem with the TopScan. If you don't already have a smartphone or a tablet, you'll need one. Going the tablet route may be best, just for the bigger screen.
