I need to graph the coil packs on my toyota 99 4runner. I just bought this meter second hand and it appears to work great. What do I need to graph the ignition? I saw on youtube someone using plugwire setup deal to read the ignition. won't the scanner do that without any adapters? Sorry I am so stupid about this scanner. I am just learning.
Also, can I watch scannerdanner using his versus and apply those techniques to my older modis?

Congratulations on your Modis purchase!
I had one for years and loved it. To answer your second question, yes, a great deal of what Paul teaches using the Verus applies directly to the Modis.
I seriously recommend signing up for at least the 2 week trial of ScannerDanner Premium on YouTube so you can watch the Verus Training series.
There's some other resources out there (snapon1.com has a hands on walk through for all their platforms), but nothing as good as what Paul has recorded.
As far as scoping the coils, that's kind of an open ended question depending on the style, location and how many wires on each coil.
If it's just 2 wires, you can scope the control wire with a back probe and get a good idea about the secondary voltage from the primary waveform.
I'm on my phone and headed to work, so I can't get you the link this moment, but there's a 3 hour video on tst seminars YouTube page (more than one actually) that go into great detail describing how to glean relevant diagnostic info from the primary and secondary ignition scope captures.
