For anybody looking for cheap/free diagnostic software for Italian cars and some related Chrysler group and Suzuki models check out

in addition to normal OBD diagnostics it will diagnose and give bi-directional tests using oridinary low cost Adaptors (including ELM327, OBD-Link, VAGCom 409) although for some modules and vehicles you may need to source plug adaptors which are available cheaply from eBay or Amazon.
The basic version is not only free but is not overly restricted, registration is low cost 50$ unlocks more modules.
